In the first three quarters of this year, China's textile and apparel exports were 248.35 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.1 percent year-on-year (10.4 percent year-on-year in yuan terms), according to the General Administration of Customs Statistics Express today. Among them, the export of textiles was US $114.33 billion, up 8.7% year on year (9.7% year on year in RMB); The export of clothing was US $134.02 billion, up 9.4% year on year (up 11.1% year on year in RMB).

Since the second half of this year, influenced by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the high inflation in many countries and the adjustment of monetary and fiscal policies of various countries, the purchasing power and consumption structure of major overseas markets have changed significantly, and our industry faces great pressure to maintain export growth. The export volume of our textile industry to the main international markets has maintained steady growth this year. In the first eight months of this year, China exported 38.58 billion dollars of textiles and clothing to the United States, up 7.8 percent year on year, according to Chinese customs data. Exports to ASEAN reached US $36.94 billion, up 23.3 percent year on year. Among ASEAN members, China's textile and apparel exports to Vietnam reached 12.06 billion US dollars, accounting for 32.7% of the total, with a year-on-year growth of 4.0%. During the same period, our exports to Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar all increased by more than 40 per cent. From January to August, China exported US $34.04 billion of textiles and garments to the EU, up 13.2% year on year. Exports to Italy and Spain grew by about 25 per cent. In addition, exports of textiles and apparel to Japan were $12.96 billion, up 1.3 percent year on year. Since the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) came into force this year, member states have made concerted efforts to promote steady growth of intra-regional trade. From January to August, China exported 62.15 billion U.S. dollars of textiles and garments to RCEP member states, up 15.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, our industry exported $83.53 billion to countries along the Belt and Road, up 18.3 percent year on year.
